The Tricks
Location: Little Rock, AR
Website: http://www.facebook.com/TheTricksLR
Biography: The Tricks are a three-piece from Little Rock comprised of Gabe Smoller (vocals & guitar), Alexander Jones (bass & vocals), and Jason Griswold (drums). In July 2012 they released their self-titled debut album and began touring the state in support of it.
The release was met with favorable reviews from local media outlets. Sync Weekly praised the band for "tying the feistiness of rock with the melodic bounce of pop and the atmospherics of lo-fi." Robert Bell of the Arkansas Times noted "an appealingly scrappy and youthful vibe to the album," and likened the debut to Wowee Zowee by Pavement and the early work of The Cure. The statewide Arkansas Democrat-Gazette appreciated that "The Tricks have their own thing going on and are not afraid of mixing in some earnest jangle or sly funk."
The Tricks will be playing around the state this summer, so catch them when they are in town! In the future, the band hope to expand their touring territory and begin playing shows regionally, then nationally.
